CPAP

CPAP is a machine that uses a steady stream of air to gently keep your airway open throughout the night so you are able to breathe. You sleep with a mask and a hose that are attached to a machine you keep at the bedside. A CPAP is a fixed-pressure machine, which means it delivers one consistent airflow pressure that is set by your doctor.

APAP

An APAP is an auto-adjusting machine that changes your airflow pressure level throughout the night based on your sleep position and what stage of sleep you’re in. An APAP machine uses a variable stream of air to gently keep your airway open throughout the night so you are able to breathe.

Bilevel

BiPAP or bilevel machines include two pressure level settings: a higher pressure when you inhale, and a lower pressure when you exhale to improve breathing comfort. A bilevel is ideal for people who have trouble adjusting to airflow pressure.
